Just saw your question.
City i live in, zone 8 and 9, run right through the middle.
Tropicals i know of don't need greenhouse, and i belive are most all available in dwarf or semi-dwarf.
Persimmon, fig, pomegranate. Any citrus, allthough citrus will need some protection for long durations of frost. Some old fashion Christmas lites, the kind that get warm/hot will do the job.
Save the greenhouse for the real tropical stuff.
