Here in Florida we experienced the following:

Hurricane Matthew October 6, 2016
Hurricane Irma September 9-10, 2017
Freezing temperature January 9, 2018

I now have four daylily boxes. (Used to have 6 but 2 of them now have vegetables). The daylily boxes range from 27" x 55", 139" x 44", 75" x 75 " 75" x 24" (odd shape indeed!!), and in front of the house the box measures 120" x 45". They were not updated after Matthew or Irma and I really felt they had to be improved. For good reason.

On November 7, 2017 I started removing daylilies from the Original Box. Then the soil was improved with Jungle Growth bagged soil, some soil from a good local nursery, perlite, and fertilizer and replanted. I did that on all the boxes. I mixed 25 lb of fertilizer that was spread between the boxes and 24 cubic feet of soil was added. I also added 3 cu ft of perlite in the process. I did it all!!

Today I finished the box in the front of the house. My progress was hindered by cold days when the high was 30 degrees with winds from the north that reached 30 mph. on various days. I'm no woose, but if the temperatures are 45 degrees with that wind, I'm not out there. I developed a bad sinus infection from doing just that!!! I'm so relieved to have finished the project. Now I need to pot some daylilies in 3 gallon pots and it looks like the next week will be in the high 60's and mid 70's. Finally!! It's really been cold for Florida and we are ready for warm temperatures. Maybe I can get some stuff done in the yard, like trimming plants that were damaged by the freeze??? Whistling Whistling nodding

Normally I can do this work in 6 weeks. It's only 65 daylilies. This year? Ohhhh no.
