Your photo intrigued me, so I did a little research. You probably already know all this, so I'm really just sharing the info with others who might read this comment. The USDA website has some alarming information about this being classed as a noxious weed, invasive, and even banned in numerous states, including Connecticut, where this was photographed. That's the reason when I proposed a data edit, I only supplied the fact that it's an annual, and grass or grass-like. I didn't feel it was appropriate to provide growing conditions for a plant that shouldn't be grown intentionally anywhere in this country. I wish garden.org provided options for indicating alien, invasive status for plants in their database. - Elizabeth
