can you give me advice?

I bought monstera variegata 3 weeks ago and I put that into water... and it looks like its dieing Sad leaf is turning yellow.. root and cutting edges turning black. I bought rooting powder today and put it into perlite Sad I cut off as much black as I could but I didn't cut it all as I am worry it won't be nothing left Sad

Is there anyone who saved plant even if it start rot ?

I am uploading picture from seller. I think someone sold that as it can't propagate that with success... and as I am new with plants I probably bought wrong cutting...

(Sorry for my english, It's not my first language but I am looking for help everywhere Sad )
