I would look at natural areas around you and see what flowers grow there. Being an island, your selection is likely to be more limited so as not to bring in or encourage invasives. So looking at native plants that work well in natural settings would be your best bet.

I found this website which lists plants found in PR. You can search by elevation, etc, so get an idea of what might work in your location.
