Hi, been a while since I've been around.
I had a bout with mosaic virus in my collection and had to trash 90% of it, broke my heart, and my spirit and I basically gave up ... lost over 100 ariod species to it.
It's not even recognized as being on the mainland U.S., but in my experience it's widespread and common in many areas.
There's some treatment, but since it's a virus then you really can't eliminate it, only a few plants showed resistance to it, and I hope they reemerge soon, we shall see.

I wonder how prevalent it is in suffer areas, who's seen it but avoided it, who's battled it, who can recognize it and who's completely unfamiliar?

Thanks
Please tree mail me for trades, I'm ALWAYS actively looking for more new plants, and love to trade!

That so sad Crying

And today i found new leaf on my new Spath also show the same symptoms. It attacked that beautifull variegata. I place it far isolated now. So sad if i must destroy it.. but will be worse if the virus spread to other collection

Hi,
So i actually live in Columbus. My mother who lives in Cincinnati (not so far from you) has a decades old Christmas Cactus that contracted mosaic virus after it had a mealybug infestation for a time (I'd warned my mother about it but she did not act in time). It is showing the yellowing of leaves, deformation of growth, as well as its cuttings always tiling over time especially. I'd received one such cutting earlier in December 2023. Since then it has gone on to infest scores of my other houseplants both in my snake's cage and in pots. Attached I've included some examples of the clear tiling pattern on my prayer plant, my coral bells, my pothos, and the original victim which had become afflicted.

Yes im aware, I'm moreso just posting as a reference for anybody who stumbles upon this thread as well going forward. Unfortunately there's not really a ton of easily accessible example photos for this of most plants. Since i last posted, mosaic has shown it spread to my mom's ZZ plant, her elephant ear, more philodendrons.... the list goes on. We had accidentally planted a coral bells that had it in my sister's freaking landscaping. This is truly a nightmare.

Obviously the proper methods are being taken now (diluted bleach, germ theory, borax, the whole 9) but we were really woefully unprepared and not given the dire warning that I'd have hoped to read about somewhere sooner....
