One final garden visit before I return to school this week 😞. Ulting Wick is a 11-acre (4.5 ha) garden, situated at Ulting near Maldon in Essex. It is centred around three listed black Essex barns and a 16th-century farmhouse. It was beautiful and did not disappoint.
Another visit to a very quaint old 17th Century Cottage and garden. They have clearly struggled with the summer heat this year as the were a couple of empty spots where things have not done well in the heat. In a way that is reassuring as is seems most of my garden is like that this year.
Mum and I visited another lovely garden and had a nice chat with the owner. She has a "thing" for snowdrops in particular so we will definitely have to visit again in February to see all the varieties she has. In the mean time, now in August there were still so many lovely blooms to see. Lots of lovely clematis again. I loved her hosta corner (a bit like mine but less snail eaten!) and a lovely fernary amongst other things and some stunning varieties of geranium. Keep your eye out as the little surprises hiding throughout the garden!
We popped down the road to visit an open garden. It was only tiny, but so beautiful! The owner is a former clematis seller and hybridizer and she had some absolute little gems. I definitely would love to go back at a different time of the year to see what other lovely things she had. An absolute gem of a garden!
Some of her beautiful clematis out at the moment;
Some other pretty blooms;
