Chopsticks make great gardening tools. So do many other kitchen utensils.

Over the years I keep finding myself going to the kitchen silverware and utensil drawers to find the tools I need for my gardening chores.
My favorite tool for transplanting is a chopstick. It makes just the right size hole in the dirt for the transplants. It is soft enough to push the delicate roots into the soil without damaging them. I can then use it to push the stem from one side to the other as I pat down the soil on each side of the transplant.
