Bonehead's Plant List: Fern

A note from Bonehead

I am located in north Snohomish County, Washington, Zone 8b, a temperate rain foresty region. I rarely get snow, extreme cold, or extreme heat. Global warming, however, is changing the last one and we now get summer temps that are uncomfortably hot for me (anything over 30 C). I use this feature as a mini-database of my plants - both those within my tended beds/yard and those in my wild areas. The dates for plant events (budding, flowering, etc.) are ranges, not necessarily inclusive on both ends.

Japanese Painted Fern (Anisocampium niponicum)	Have Fern	2002 porch bed.
Hart's Tongue Fern (Asplenium scolopendrium)	Have Fern	2002 porch bed, 2005 moved to baby pond, 2014 moved to shade corner. Cut off brown leaves in spring. Looks best in fall.
American Parsley Fern (Cryptogramma acrostichoides)	Have Fern Native	Out back. 2018 brought one inside with a deer fern. See how it does.
Parsley Fern (Cryptogramma crispa)	Have Fern Native	Found this in some ferns I moved up to the dining room table as a centerpiece. Eventually they all died, redo the copper planter again, it was quite nice.
Crisped Golden-scaled Male Fern (Dryopteris affinis 'Stableri')	Have Fern	2005 barn bed, 2013 split (to 3) and moved to shade corner. Cut off old fronds when new growth emerges. Sorticulture.
Broad Buckler Fern (Dryopteris dilatata 'Lepidota Cristata')	Have Fern	2005 barn bed. Cut off old fronds when new growth emerges. Sorticulture.
Autumn Shield Fern (Dryopteris erythrosora)	Have Fern	2002 porch bed, 2005 barn bed. Cut off old fronds when new growth emerges. Sorticulture
Braun's Holly Fern (Polystichum braunii)	Have Fern	Barn bed 2005. Sorticulture
Sword Fern (Polystichum munitum)	Have Fern Native	Understory of woods.

Deer Fern (Struthiopteris spicant)	Have Fern Native Houseplant	2018 brought one up to the house, set in copper planter on dining table with south and west exposure and a couple rock buddies. All over back in the woods.
