Kevalsha's Plant List: Ornamentals

A note from Kevalsha

I like to grow a variety of plants from trees to many ground-covers. I also grow annuals and vegetables. I always find places for more plants. Using containers for those that need protection from frost and are used as house plants is a good idea. Many climbing varieties grow on my trees including a vanilla orchid that grows on a camphor tree and is hanging in there for the past two winters. I try to create barriers that make protected areas for plants that would normally would not survive the elements in my area.

Lime Green Coleous	Have Ornamentals	I've had this plant, which grew as a volunteer, since maybe three years ago. It is in practically full shade and has gone through at least three Florida winters in zone 9. As it is in the "wrong" place because its my walk way I manage to walk by it and always take pictures of it.
Fancy-leaf Caladium (Caladium 'Brandywine')	Have Ornamentals	Caladium Brandywine is a beauty with its big leaves and the contrast between the red and green.
Lance-leaf Caladium (Caladium 'Florida Red Ruffles')	Have Ornamentals	This caladium is very bright red with green edges.
Dwarf Caladium (Caladium 'Miss Muffet')	Have Ornamentals	Caladium Miss Muffet is one of the originals I had before going to Lake Placid, Florida where we purchased a big collection of whites, pinks and reds.
White Rabbit's Foot Fern (Davallia tyermannii)	Have Ornamentals
Lucky Bamboo (Dracaena sanderiana)	Have Ornamentals
Golden Dew Drop (Duranta erecta 'Alba')	Have Shrubs Ornamentals	This plant is very aggressive and persistent. I have two of these and one is growing right next to a big firebush and it is standing its ground and wants its space. The other one is a cutting I took and was in a container for months on end and finally it is in the ground and doing well.

Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Royal Butterfly')	Have Ornamentals	I got 2 of these day lilies from a trade.
Daylily (Hemerocallis fulva 'Kwanso')	Have Ornamentals	I have had this day lily for quite a long time and tried it in different parts of the garden. They grow better in dappled shade or morning sun.
Bigleaf Hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla)	Have Ornamentals	I took cuttings from this hydrangea and now I have 4 new plants in containers. My hydrangea is not looking very well this winter. I think I will prune it in about a month.
Peacock Ginger (Kaempferia pulchra 'Silver Spot')	Have Ornamentals	This is a ground cover for shaded areas. I love most ground-covers especially this one.
Donkey Ears (Kalanchoe gastonis-bonnieri)	Have Ornamentals
Flapjacks (Kalanchoe luciae)	Have Ornamentals
Glory Bush (Pleroma heteromalla)	Have Shrubs Ornamentals	This tibouchina was supposed to get a trimming and now is more than 5 ft. tall. The picture shown has buds on the very top branch.
Plumeria (Plumeria rubra 'Star White')	Have Shrubs Ornamentals	I have had this frangipani for a long time. It is growing in morning sun but I am sure it could do good or even a bit better if it had more sun. I am going to try a new location where it gets just a bit more sun.
