MrsBinWY's Plant List

A note from MrsBinWY
Please note, unless otherwise stated, all seeds are open-pollinated in our yard. I include cultivar names or "descendants of xxx" to provide additional insight about the parent plants. Plants grown from these seeds may not come true, and it may no longer be entirely correct to refer to them by the cultivar name.

seeds from NARGS (donation from MK Young of Missoula, MT) Apr-21 April 17, 2021: Seeds sown (13 (all) seeds from NARGS (donation from MK Young of Missoula, MT) Apr-21; per Ontario Rock Garden's directions for A. nana, soak 24-48 hours until seeds swell, then give them 90 days of cold, moist stratification. After the seeds had soaked for a couple hours, I realized that all but three of the achenes (?) were empty. Put the three actual seeds on a coffee filter at room temperature. If no germination in a few days, try the fridge. No germination as of 5-10-21. Try the fridge for 90 days. On 11-25-2021 (finally!), took the 3 seeds out of the fridge and sowed them in potting mix at room temp.)

Seeds from light blue plants from maxx2's 2019G. December 14, 2019: Seeds sown (16 seeds from maxx2's 2019G in milk jug @ room temp. Floated the rest (probably ~4 viable - 4 floaters & 4 sinkers) as a test, since the seeds remind me of Amaryllis seeds).)
December 22, 2019: Seeds germinated (1 of the "floated" seeds that sank showing a radical (added it to the milk jug with the other seeds; moved the milk jug to the bathroom floor to the side of the heater vent); another sinker showing a radical on 12-23-19 (will leave this one a while to see if it can progress under water; dropped the water level such that the seeds are barely covered); the other 2 sinkers were showing their radicals on 12-26-19. (All 4 sinkers germinated in water.) Also on 12-26-19, I can see one of the seeds sown in the milk jug (not the "sinker" that germinated first) has a nice, thick radical and has pushed the seed coat above the potting mix. On 12-29-19, moved the 3 germinated sinkers to the milk jug of potting mix. The oldest one didn't seem to be progressing in water. It might have if I'd left it alone, but I couldn't stand it.

As of 1/8/20, all 20 seeds had emerged. The 3 that I left in the water until 12-29-19 were the last to emerge.)
May 22, 2020: Potted up (20 - big, fleshy roots; had to swish them around in a pot of water for
a very long time to get them apart)
May 1, 2023: Bloomed (Two of the three plants I kept for myself opened their first blossoms in May 2023. Each plant sent up one flowering stem. The blossoms opened over a long season, and the seeds began maturing in August 2023. Only two or three seed pods still maturing as of September 19, 2023.)
