We received 4 large pads to plant as a gift from some Mexican friends. They called them Nopales. They gave us an additional pad to eat (with instructions) and it was delicious. These four pads have been in the garden from July to now (December) and they are all healthy and putting out one to three new pads.

Greek Oregano (Origanum vulgare subsp. hirtum)

Wonderful ground cover. It doesn't like mulch stuffed close to its base, especially during a hot summer when I kept it watered. When I cleared away the mulch in October, I found the oregano quite forgiving and the leaves are looking perfect now a month later.

I got a great harvest with this parsley, even though the cat laid on it numerous times and cracked many stems! I'm making a extract with the chopped leaves and stems for culinary use.

Used straw mulch to avoid weeds from May to August. I didn't realize it until too late but this Sage was rotting from the bottom up with the damp straw tightly around its base.
