antsinmypants's Plant List: Hybrid

A note from antsinmypants
Feel free to ask about anything in my list you may be interested in. I'm always looking to trade. Just because something isn't in my want list doesn't necessarily mean I don't want it & just because something I have isn't marked for trade doesn't mean it isn't available for trade. I stay busy so don't always get around to updating.

Grow three varieties of early maturing "icebox" watermelons with delicious pastel yellow, orange, or pink flesh. These extra fancy beauties weigh in at only 4 to 7 pounds with thin, green striped rinds and dense, crisp flesh. Their party colors and refreshingly sweet, sherbet-like taste make them wonderful everyday treats or gorgeous summer desserts.

Seeds are color-coded with USDA food-grade stain to distinguish varieties.

RG 2023

This delicately flavored vegetable is also known as finocchio or Florence fennel. Plants form pale green flattened oval to round bulbs at soil level with feathery dark green tops. Premium Trieste is a new bolt-resistant hybrid from France bred for top flavor and tenderness. Its refined, juicy-crisp flesh is marvelous sliced in salads and its wonderful nutty anise flavor softens and mellows when cooked. Grill Trieste over glowing coals or sauté to succulent melting sweetness.

For tender, best-quality bulbs, fennel needs rich soil and cool growing weather, so sow seeds as early as the ground can be worked and again in midsummer for fall harvesting. Be sure seedlings are thinned or transplanted 10 to12 inches apart. Keep plants evenly moist throughout the growing season – mulching is a good strategy. Fennel is a heavy feeder, so fertilize every 2 to 3 weeks with a high nitrogen fertilizer such as fish emulsion.

Mild Winters - March - April & July - August

Days to Germinate - 14 - 21 days

EARLY SPRING SEED EXTRAVAGANZA #1 - 2024 - DraDiana - 2023 mixed cross-pollinated seed

Incredibly dark, wine purple foliage contrasts beautiful with the large 8-9" white flowers. Each flower has a cherry red eye and dark pink veining. Heart-shaped leaves cover the round habit.

These North American native plants bring massive, tropical-looking flowers all the way to zone 4. Although later to emerge than most perennials in spring, these are fast growing plants capable of adding an inch of new growth a day.

Zones 4-9.
