This tree was center of southwest side of front yard when we purchased house. We finally identified it on 8/20/16 when we saw one with identical leaves and bark in True a valley nursery in Eagar. Tree has not been doing well and we cut it way back in 2015. This August I dug up soil all around it, removing numerous large rocks from the soil around the trunk and a ring of weeds with deep woody roots. Ph tested as neutral (7.0), so I amended the soil with a bag of Whitney Farms compost, added a 6' brick border and mulched with a bad of Earth Grow Bark. Ordered 2# Azomite from Amazon to add minerals to the soil as advised by Michelle at True Value. (Look for better buy on Azomith, $35 at True a Value.) |

Unpruned tree height of 15-35 ft. but trees may be held to any desired height by summer pruning. Purchased 7-gallon tree from True Value Hardware in Eagar on 8/13/16. Planted in front of house on 8/15/16, centered between house and fence, on south-west side next to stump from apple tree. Lovell Peach stock from Dave Wilson Nursery. Tag reads: "Vigorous, more tolerant of wet soils, also more cold hardy. Susceptible to nematodes in sandy soils." |

Height: 5-6 ft., with 4-5 inch blooms. Purchased 2 bareroot plants from mail order catalog in spring 2015. Potted plants in Tucson in May, transported them to Eagar in June and planted one on each side of gate in front of stone wall. These roses were two of only three of eight plants that survived the first winter in the Eagar yard. |

Hybrid Tea Rose (Rosa 'Mister Lincoln')

Purchased and planted 8 barefoot rose plants from mail order catalog in June 2015. Only three survived the following winter, Mr. Lincoln and two crescendo roses. Mr. Lincoln is very hardy and beautiful. Originally planted roses in pots in Tucson in May, transported them to Eagar and transplanted them to front yard perennial border in front of stone fence in June. Mr. Lincoln is planted in southeast border just to the east of stump. |
