lauribob's Plant List: Aspen

A note from lauribob
I am not interested in selling or trading live plants. I do save seeds once in awhile and would be willing to trade those.

Veggie Garden Perennials

Aspen: Cheryl and I went up to Elbow Coulee and dug these up, way back when I worked at Hanks. They've filled the corner nicely and I love the fall color. The nice Asplund guys keep them from getting too close to the power lines every couple years for the PUD.

Vegetable: One migrated over to the north end of the vegetable garden and we just left it. It's now a mature tree, but the grapes grow all the way to the top, so it looks kind of weird and isn't as robust as the others. The birds like having grapes spread out over such a large area, but it doesn't stop them from eating the low-hanging fruit as I'd hoped.

This poor, sorry thing is still alive. I planted it at the same time that I planted the aspens. I think it needs more sun than it gets here, but I'm not going to try to move it. It's a nice glimpse of red in the aspen jungle.

From Conservation District. These have really naturalized in this area. I like them - pretty pink flowers and nice fall color.

I love these things - they get great fall color!

2020: I noticed a couple seedlings in the nearby vicinity. Wouldn't bother me if it naturalized on this bank.
2015: Planted on the bank. It's slowly growing, but still pretty small.

Weeds
Native. Pretty aggressive. I'm trying to get these gone from all the flowerbeds, but it's a battle. At least they pull fairly easy.
Aspen
I've decided to let these be here because I'm tired of fighting with them. I would like to keep them away from the driveway a bit though. I don't mind them too much, except they just won't give it a rest and they look real ratty after they bloom unless I go deadhead them all. Also I don't like the smell of the foliage.

This stuff turns up everywhere! I don't mind it in the Aspen garden - it smells good and makes a nice groundcover if there's nothing else competing with it that I like better. I like it in the lawn as well. I wish I could get it out of the rock garden where it covers everything up, including the rocks.

Aspen:
Under the tall grass on the bank.
2022: I was poking around down there and I think it's starting to spread a bit. It's been there forever!
H&T:
Planted some under the big willow. I think there are still a few sprigs growing.
