[ Okra (Abelmoschus esculentus 'Perkins Mammoth Long Pod') | Posted on September 20, 2011 ]

Nice productive okra variety. Best picked when pods are 3-5 inches. Slender pods stay tender at longer lengths.

[ Gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides 'Frostproof') | Posted on September 16, 2011 ]

Frostproof lives up to its name. Handles cold temperatures well, but as with all gardenias, will benefit from being planted in an area sheltered from winter winds. Cold, wet winds tend to desiccate the leaves contributing to "winter burn."

Great as a specimen plant or for hedges. I highly recommend planting them next to your deck, near your entryways, etc, so you can enjoy the fragrance of the flowers.
