[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'North Wind Larry') | Posted on February 6, 2015 ]

My plant was not purchased thru Gary Schaben directly. I now always buy from the hybridizer. It was slow to increase. The place where it was purchased digs in fall, and at that time it would refrigerate the plants until they were sold. This may have made a difference. So, it is a large plant now, consistently very well budded with reliable re-bloom. Most years, it will also send up a few extra scapes late in the year. What I like the most is that those tall scapes stay upright. Happy with this daylily in Illinois.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Regency Heights') | Posted on February 6, 2015 ]

A good heathy plant. Gorgeous flowers that hold their color well. Very well budded at 30+. It is, however, a bouquet bloomer, so it goes through flowers quickly.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Just Plum Happy') | Posted on February 6, 2015 ]

Perhaps my comment is reflective of tissue culture, as not all daylilies do well tissue-cultured. Would love to find a piece of this plant that has come from division only to see whether it would be the same. That said, my plants of Just Plum Happy were the worst daylilies I've ever owned. They were the first to come down with leaf streak every year and spread it around. Their color melts in hot sun. Their color melts in high humidity. Their color fades by afternoon. Probably more negatives to add, but 'nuff said.
Positives: Reblooms all season, so as to prolong the misery.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Woman at the Well') | Posted on February 6, 2015 ]

When this daylily is good, she's really, really good. In cooler weather I do get the spectacular flowers. She does not like hot sun and will lose the ruffling and nice color on those days. Multi-rebloom from 3rd year forward.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Shadow of His Hand') | Posted on February 6, 2015 ]

Good healthy plant in my yard. Strong color with dependable rebloom.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Intelligent Design') | Posted on February 6, 2015 ]

Took a couple of years to settle in for me. The color is good and strong with ample rebloom. In very rich soil this year, it scaped 3 times. That was certainly a surprise.

[ Coreopsis Big Bang™ Star Cluster | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

Star Cluster has now been here 3 summers and 2 horrible winters: one sopping wet winter and one polar vortex. It has been disease free and flowers well. However, it's very large. Grows about 24" tall, then flops over and grows up again. If I let it keep going, it would most likely cover a good 4' space. Good coreopsis if you can find the right spot in your garden.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Diane Bremer') | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

Diane Bremer is a workhorse of a daylily. The foliage stays nice. Good colored flower with heavy substance. In 3rd year she stayed in bloom for most of the season.

[ Panicle Hydrangea (Hydrangea paniculata Bobo®) | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

Bobo is a spectacular hydrangea for my garden. It has been healthy in its two years here.
It certainly is a blooming fool. Was a bit worried by introduction pictures as I thought it may look a little odd if covered with that many flowers. Bobo is covered with bloom, yet looks fabulous. Will be getting more of this one. It's about 24" high x 30" wide at end of second year.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Magic of Oz') | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

Magic of Oz is a good healthy plant with a gorgeous flower. I also love the striking green throat. As a bonus it faithfully re-blooms here in northern Illinois.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Hakuna Matata') | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

The color in my photo is not representative of this flower. Posted to show the branching and budding typical of this plant. Bud count is between 40 to 50. Fabulous color in this flower.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Twist Again') | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

This daylily is a favorite. Good-colored, healthy foliage. Starts blooming a little before mid season and then continues well past frost. Seems to always have 3 or 4 scapes finished, 3 to 4 blooming, and just as many coming up. All this with a really pretty and entertaining flower. They don't get any better, in my opinion.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mister Butters') | Posted on January 22, 2015 ]

Mister Butters is such a reliable performer in northern Illinois. Good-looking foliage, reliable instant rebloom, and pretty flower. In 2014 both plants put up two more scapes for a third bloom. So happy I purchased this daylily.

[ Garden Phlox (Phlox paniculata 'Peacock White') | Posted on January 20, 2015 ]

This is a great plant. Hope not to jinx myself. Have had it for 3 seasons and 2 winters. Remains disease free for me. Stays so tiny at about 12 to 15 inches and blooms all season. Will produce blooming side buds just under the top blooms. It does reseed. So far, all seedlings have been a mauve-pink. These have also remained disease free. Will update on seedlings next season. So easy to tuck this gem in anywhere up front. Looks excellent with rose Sunrise Sunset.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Forty Days and Forty Nights') | Posted on December 13, 2014 ]

This must be a happy plant. Its scapes are 45 inches tall. Excellent bloom and reliable rebloom on a healthy plant.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Snowdrift') | Posted on December 10, 2014 ]

In my yard Snowdrift is a pure white flower. Live cane to the tips at the end of winter. Grows close to three feet high, depending on how I prune. Nice uniform growth. Doesn't self clean, so as with many whites, you'll get that brown tissue look if not deadheaded. Very healthy rose bush with continuous bloom.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Mitch Lynd') | Posted on December 10, 2014 ]

This daylily is far more gorgeous than my photo shows. Its color is the darker shade of red in Mars Attacks (shown). The two complement each other beautifully. Mitch Lynd is a reliable rebloomer here in Illinois.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Belief in Vein') | Posted on December 9, 2014 ]

The orange color that you see in my photo is spot on what you would see in my yard. What a difference in blooms! It was purchased from Ashwood Gardens. Always assumed his photo was a little off. Now I wonder whether this is indeed Belief In Vain.

[ Rose (Rosa 'Easter Basket') | Posted on December 9, 2014 ]

I grow Easter Basket no spray and own root. She's wonderfully disease resistant. Will get some spots here or there, but they do not spread. No powdery mildew in ten-plus years. Strongly scented so the jbs love her. Mostly has continuous bloom. Normally grows up and fountains out at the top, forming a nice vase shape about 5 to 6 feet tall. A late July feeding of seaweed sent her soaring to 8ft., but she lost her nice shape.

[ Smooth Ox-Eye (Heliopsis helianthoides 'Tuscan Sun') | Posted on December 9, 2014 ]

Late to update. The flowers on all of my heliopsis plants were found to contain larvae from the sunflower moth, but of more importance to me, they were susceptible to the same bacterial disease that affects many asters. I have since removed all aster and heliopsis plants that show signs of this disease. I do not use chemicals, so sometimes removal is the only option.
