[ Cherry Tomato (Solanum lycopersicum 'Mexico Midget') | Posted on April 19, 2020 ]

Just a note to confirm how resistant and hardy these seeds are~ The seedling photo posted 4-19-20 were 2014 Whitinger seeds. They were stored in a paper bag in my indoor laundry room.
Nearly 6 year old seed, not stored properly, yet they all germinated. 100% germination!

[ Sweet Pepper (Capsicum annuum 'Jimmy Nardello') | Posted on August 31, 2014 ]

This is the first year I have grown this pepper. I purchased the seeds from Territorial Seed company, sprouted them 3-29-14 and they were ready to put in the ground 5-30-14. They set fruit 7-11-14. They have produced very well. They aren't particularly meaty, although, that could be a result of very little water this summer. I will try these beautiful Italian frying peppers again.

[ Runner Bean (Phaseolus coccineus 'Scarlet Runner') | Posted on August 22, 2014 ]

The Scarlet Runner has been a wonderful addition to my garden, not only for the wonderful beans that can be eaten as a snap bean when young or as a shelled bean when mature, but also for the gorgeous display of deep red-orange blossoms. They have been very resistant to disease. The hummingbirds choose the scarlet runner blossoms for nectar above all else in the garden. I have given them a 20-foot trellis and they would even keep going higher. A very easy and productive plant.

[ Chinese Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia 'Nijisseiki') | Posted on August 22, 2014 ]

20th Century Asian Pear (Pyrus pyrifolia ‘Nijisseiki’) is a great fruit tree: easy to maintain, resistant to many diseases, and drought tolerant once established. For me it began producing fruit in its third year. The fruit is wonderfully sweet with a slight tartness. Very crispy and juicy. The fruit stores well in a dry, cool environment.

[ Hardy Kiwi (Actinidia 'Issai') | Posted on August 22, 2014 ]

The Hardy Kiwi ‘Issai’ is a very aggressive vine. It requires a very sturdy trellis, most commonly constructed from at least four 4 x4’s for the anchor posts and 2 x 2’s as the top lattice. Also, the vine must be pruned at least yearly. The plant will take 5 years to set a decent amount of fruit. After 5 years it will be a very prolific producer of delectable large grape-sized fruits with soft edible skins that taste like the more common larger kiwis found in most grocery stores.
