[ Hosta 'Ghost Spirit' | Posted on June 24, 2012 ]

This plant emerges with the centres of the leaves pure white - at least in my zone. Sometimes they will mist up and sometimes later leaves have the misted colour, but not always.

This plant retains its powder blue colour better than most of the blues in my garden.

[ Hosta 'Bell Ringer' | Posted on June 21, 2012 ]

This hosta is not registered as of June 2012. Internet resources refer to it both as 'Bell Ringer' AND 'Bellringer'. The Mark R. Zillis "Hostapedia" uses 'Bell Ringer'.

[ Hosta 'Rainbow's End' | Posted on June 17, 2012 ]

This is one of the most slug resistant hostas in my garden. 2011 was a very wet year- great year for the slugs. At the end of August 'Rainbow's End' was virtually intact while all the small hostas around it were lace. It's a WONDERFUL plant.

[ Hosta 'Allan P. McConnell' | Posted on December 8, 2011 ]

This is one of my oldest hostas and one of the easiest to grow. It is very easy to divide, grows fast and makes a wonderful border plant.

[ Hosta 'Ovation' | Posted on December 6, 2011 ]

Listed in the Hostapedia as being rare and not for sale in North America. This is a lovely example at the Montréal Botanical Garden.

[ Hosta 'Sea Thunder' | Posted on December 4, 2011 ]

I have a photograph of this variety from the Montréal Botanical Garden. It was taken July 13 and is completely full of slug holes. I don't grow it myself, but it may be a particular slug magnet.

[ Hosta 'Wylde Green Cream' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

It is very likely that this hosta and 'Heart and Soul' are the same plant, just registered by different people. both are simultaneous sports of 'Vanilla Cream'.

[ Hosta 'Stealth' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

My photo above shows a 'Stealth' that seems to be stabilizing though I've not been able to find out if the stabilized form has a name.

[ Hosta 'Lakeside Elfin Fire' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

An enthusiastic mini which grows quite quickly for a plant with this much white in the leaves.

[ Hosta 'Halcyon' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

A relatively slow-growing Tardiana blue that holds its colour well into the season. Mine has grown better since I divided it and moved it away from a Linden tree.

[ Hosta 'My Claire' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

A very pretty little hosta that sometimes gets overlooked. I divided mine spring 2011 and planted much of it back in three groups. I expect it to look much fuller next year.

[ Hosta 'Moonstruck' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

I find this one very difficult to grow. - Tends to melt out very easily even when placed in morning sun only.

[ Hosta 'Grand Prize' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

Just slightly smaller than 'Grand Tiara'

[ Hosta 'Fujibotan' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

Very, very tall flower scapes on this plant are covered with double lavender flowers.

[ Hosta 'Fortunei Aureomarginata' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

This is a real "oldie but goodie". A real show stopper in my garden, that I love. Give it time to mature and enough moisture and light and it does very well.

[ Hosta 'Fair Maiden' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

I had difficulty with this one which I tried to grow for several years. More often that not, it really looked not so "Fair".

[ Hosta 'Emerald Ruff Cut' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

This one is doing well in my garden and holds up well into the season even in a bad slug year.

[ Hosta 'Center of Attention' | Posted on November 21, 2011 ]

Very, very pretty early in the season, but mine always was in tatters before the middle of July. Finally got rid of it in 2009.

[ Hosta (Hosta clausa) | Posted on November 20, 2011 ]

clausa is highly rhizomatous and can become invasive in the right conditions. Grow it where nothing else likes to grow!
