[ Sakhalin Honeysuckle (Lonicera maximowiczii var. sachalinensis) | Posted on October 14, 2011 ]

It took a couple of years for the Sakhalin Honeysuckle to get well established in my zone 3a garden, but since then it has done well. It has nice foliage with lovely colorful blooms that attract hummingbirds during the summer. The berries later in the season are a favorite food for many other birds.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Scandalous') | Posted on October 10, 2011 ]

Scandalous was new to my zone 3a garden this year, I was somewhat disappointed in it's performance. The blooms were much smaller than I had expected and most were not well formed. We did not have a very good spring and summer so hopefully next year once it settles in and with better weather it will improve.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Which Way Jim') | Posted on October 2, 2011 ]

I received Which Way Jim as a bonus plant last year and I have to say I was very disappointed with it's first few blooms, it did improve somewhat on later blooms. It has been slow to multiply in my zone 3a garden and did not bloom this year.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Wild Horses') | Posted on October 1, 2011 ]

Wild horses was planted 3 years ago and has not done well in my zone 3a garden to date, it has been slow to multiply with few blooms, of the few that it does produce most are not well formed. Due to the cold spring and cool summer this year I will give it 1 more year to shape up.

[ Ditch Lily (Hemerocallis fulva) | Posted on October 1, 2011 ]

Although pretty, this plant can be very invasive so one should think carefully about where it is to be planted. Blooms are fragrant and are edible, they have a mild sweet taste and look very attractive when used in mixed green salads.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Macbeth') | Posted on October 1, 2011 ]

Macbeth is an outstanding performer in my zone 3a garden, multiplying well in it's second and third years with strong growth and scapes; blooms are held high above the foliage and stand up well to rain, sun and cold, it produces many beautiful blooms right up until frost. One of my favorites!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Blue Pink Beauty') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

New to my garden this spring, I loved the bloom form and the pretty shade of pink.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Pink Playmate') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

Maybe not a well known cultivar but this daylily is very striking in the garden, at least it was for me, this was it's third year and I was not disappointed in it's performance.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Catherine Woodbery') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

An oldie but a goodie!! Love the the form and color, it's done very well in my garden.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Custard Candy') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

Custard Candy has done very well in my zone 3a garden, its hardy, has multiplied very well, lovely blooms.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Indian Giver') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

New to my garden this year and I loved it, beautiful bloom and color.

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Rock Solid') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

I was very pleased with Rock Solid's first year performance in my garden, it sure stood up to it's name!!

[ Daylily (Hemerocallis 'Happy Returns') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

Happy Returns is a favorite of mine, first to bloom, then it continues to do so all summer. Very pod and pollen fertile, at least in my experience.

[ Toba Hawthorn (Crataegus x mordenensis 'Toba') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

The Toba Hawthorn is a very nice tree with lovely shiny foliage and pretty blooms in June. I highly recommend it!
