[ Hybrid Hardy Hibiscus (Hibiscus 'Disco Belle Pink') | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

Ontario, Canada...Zone 5a

This is one of the last of my perennials to emerge in the Spring. Just when you start thinking it died over the winter, give it 2 more weeks.

A real show stopper! people stop their cars to take pictures of this one.

[ Episcia 'Strawberry Patch' | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

The "pinker" Episcia's need a wee bit more humidity than the others.
Episcia will not tolerate more than a couple of hours of early morning or evening Canadian sun (no sun in the Southern, hotter, parts of North America).
Episcia have very shallow roots and like a mix that is airy enough for their very fine roots to grow in.
Shallow pots are preferred if possible.
Water regularly but do not over water.
Try to avoid getting their leaves wet.

[ Wax Plant (Hoya carnosa) | Posted on September 29, 2011 ]

I live in Ontario, Canada.
Hoya carnosa loves to be grown on the dry side. I water it every week and a half.
It will thrive in a north facing window. I have mine just to the side of a north window and it grows constantly.
It prefers to be very root-bound, mine's been in the same pot for 15 years.
Misting the plant is also helpful.

This is the pure white "albino" form.

[ Love-in-a-Mist (Nigella damascena) | Posted on September 22, 2011 ]

One of my favourite self-seeding annuals. They re-seed themselves and have come back faithfully for the last 10 years. I also take the seed pods in the Fall and scatter the seeds in other places where I want them to grow.

Beautiful blooms, last a long time....this one's been out for a couple of weeks and no sign of fading.
Bloom size is 3/4 inch.

[ Zonal Geranium (Pelargonium x hortorum 'Appleblossom Rosebud') | Posted on September 16, 2011 ]

Wonderful little plant!
I grow it in a 5 inch pot.
I keep it in a South (Canada) window and it blooms almost all year long.
