Caption: I like how sometimes El Desperado appears the color of yellow mustard, while at other times he's Dijon. Either way, the base color sets off the eye and edge perfectly.

Caption: Chicago Apache never lets me down. It blooms heavily, then almost immediately sends up rebloom scapes. Its blooms can appear velvety in the morning, and glossy in the afternoon. It never "melts" and for me doesn't seem to fade much. It's a workhorse,

Caption: It's registered as UF/Spatulate, which is definitely so, but this one bloom looked decidedly UF/Crispate. Whether it's quilled or pinched, however, I cannot say for certain.

Caption: Plants with 12-day old scapes. Two years ago, as usual, 'Snow Elf' was my first daylily to put up scapes, on May 8. It has always been first to bloom of my original 25. That year, it bloomed first on May 22.

Caption: This 8 PM photo shows the flowers on a 'Holy Moses' growing in an urn planter on my front steps. As they aren't in the ground, the plant size, scape height, and flower size are all scaled-down. The flowers are still pretty, though!
