Some native plant nurseries sell this Tall Coreopsis or Tickseed, as Yellow Springs Native Plant Nursery & Goat Farm near Phoenixville, Pennsylvania where they planted a few near their house. I have seen it wild in the huge restored prairie at Midewin National Tallgrass Prairie in Wilmington, Illinois, just south of Joliet. It is normally a very tall perennial, smooth, with stalked leaves divided into three segments. It has an anise-like odor if the foliage is crushed. It grows in thickets, meadows, prairies, and woodland edges from Wisconsin and southern Ontario down into the South. In a garden it may need staking or cutting way back in June to keep it more stocky in habit. Great, low-maintenance native forb.
