I found these growing in a low lying forest, adjacent to a stream and boggy area mostly under oak with a few fir. Like Princess Pine, L. obscurum, they run in relatively straight lines but with their horizontal stems on the soil surface, in this case covered with the prior years leaf litter. In parts of the country these have become rare due to years of collecting for use as garlands and wreaths for Christmas decorating. A ten foot stem may represent as many years of growth. I've often found these growing with wintergreen as well as L. obscurum.
