Chaparral broomrape (Orobanche bulbosa) is not the same plant as Boschniakia tuberosa. Boschniakia consists of two species which are or classified as Kospiopsis hookeri and K. strobilacea. The two species are found from northern California to British Columbia. Orobanche bulbosa is found in the chaparral of s. California and n. part of Baja California del norte. Thee plants parasitize different host plants.
