The name Pardancanda was derived from the cross of Pardanthopsis dichotoma x Belamcanda chinensis, work pioneered by Sam Norris of Owensboro, Kentucky. Both were the sole remaining species in their respective genus. Pardanthopsis dichotoma is currently a synonym for Iris dichotoma, while Belamcanda chinensis is a synonym for Iris domestica.
Each bloom lasts for a single day but they are profuse and plants bloom for up to 4 weeks in southern New England. Since some blooms open in the morning like I. domestica, while others open in the afternoon like I. dichotoma it's best to coordinate your selection with your schedule.
