    Beauty of flower revealed by a close up inspection; Half inch wide flowers have rose colored petals w/ white speckles and toothed margins.
    Wildflower in Illinois found scattered throughout the state. Found in old fields, pastures, along roadsides and railroad right of ways.
    Native of Europe; common name refers to Deptford, England. Deptford is now a part of London.

    Range: Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Montana. Additional info: this relative of the Carnation (D. caryophyllas) once grew in fields near Deptford, now an industrial section of London, hence one of its common names (Deptford Pink).
