I have been interested in locating certain bloom colors and Epi types but as I search I find many sellers offering cuttings. How do I know they are what I was wanting when it takes time to root, grow and bloom them out. I would be upset to find I had purchase a gold or yellow only to have it bloom a hot pink in a year or two.

If I give up space in the greenhouse over winter for these guys I want what I want!
Can anyone recommend a credible, dependable dealer in country?

Hi Karen, it is amazing that a search doesn't find many sellers at all. I find sooo many cuttings on ebay but just can't bring myself to invest that time and money in who knows what!?!!

It may not be a good time of year to buy/ship but I can still shop and will hopefully locate a dealer that will stand behind his 'cuttings' and be there if it was wrong. I am not opposed to buying from ebay… just hoping for a reputable dealer. I'll let you know if I find anything. Thumbs up

You've probably seen this. They have some nurseries listed that are owned by the Epi society members. Bet those would be better than random Ebay sellers.

You can also check Logee's right now they only have one available

I've purchased plants from them and they were always healthy.
I was given a cutting a few years ago and I think this year I will get to see flowers, I can't wait, this is the most unique plant I've ever had.
Here's a great forum I really enjoy, I'm sure you would also

Thank you, Christine! I have ordered from them years ago and was happy with their plants. Isn't Clown an interesting bloom! I suspect I'd better wait for warmer weather to make a purchase but I appreciate that link. Thumbs up

@plantmanager ~ some of the Epi sellers listed in your link actually sell on ebay. I believe that connection would make me feel more comfortable making a purchase from them. Thank you...

There are Epipyllum Groups on Facebook. Pat Shea and Heny Brandenburg are great sources.

I realize this is an old thread, but I can recommend Glasshouse Works as a wonderful source for epis and many other hard-to-find plants. Just reading through their online catalogue is entertaining.

Thank you Marty. I had ordered other plants from them in the past and been pleased.

The last few times I looked at their site, they showed out of stock on the ones that interested me.

I need to go look through their inventory again. Thank You!

Reading this post @Pod I am curious did you ever end up taking a chance and ordering an epi cutting in 2019 and, since it was 4 1/2 years ago, am wondering if it did take root and thrive? I think you just have to have faith when you order on-line that the seller is honest and the end result is a blossom of the same color as promised. Heck, I live in Canada and can't find places here that sell cuttings (although recently an NGA member provided me with two places in Canada). I sit and search hours on end and see so many beautiful epis I would like but they are in U.S. and they do not ship here. I must admit that if able to order and if after how many years it takes to produce a bloom from the cutting, even if it was a totally different color, I would be so happy just to have an epi in my possession. I am starting to have evil thoughts of visiting the States and becoming not a drug mule but an epi mule. Green Grin! Wonder how many years in prison that would get me. Thinking Time would go by quickly long as they let me grow epis in prison. Hilarious!

An Epi mule... that would boggle their minds. Rolling on the floor laughing

No, I didn't take a chance from unknown sources. I did buy some from a dealer in Louisiana. Almost Eden. They don't have a big selection but nice plants that are well rooted and packed well. Some IDs are questionable or unknown. Some have bloomed and you are right. By the time it offers blooms, I am delighted.
The past few years have been hard on the plants. We had a week of below freezing temps. I was not home due to a broken hip and leg. Oddly the epis endured that hardship only to have this past summer of intense heat and severe drought. I feel gratified to see the few blooms they offer after all that.
Sadly I don't know the answer for locating a dealer in your area.

Sorry about the broken hip and leg Pod. That definitely put a damper on your gardening.
It is understandable that you were not able to care for your epis. Good thing is that they are pretty forgiving plants that can withstand a bit of hardship and still survive. Hopefully, they will bestow you with loads of beautiful flowers in the coming year.

As regards not having an abundance of growers in Canada, no worries, I will survive. I have ordered seeds of several different epis. Mind you it will take a long time to have them bloom but, hey, part of the excitement will be to see them grow. But, don't be surprised if some day you see a news report of a Canadian arrested for smuggling epiphyllum cuttings across the border. Whistling

I can give you some cuttings if you visit San Jose, California.

Oh, bless you and thank you ever so much for your kind offer @Jackli. There is nothing I would love to do more than visit California and bring back epi cuttings, however, unfortunately, my travelling days are over. I will just enjoy yours and other epi lovers pictures and wait for my seeds to grow for now.
