Was wondering if this rose looks familiar to anyone. Here are 3 different pictures of roses from the same bush. I believe it is a Hybrid Tea rose. Planted it awhile back, but lost the tag. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Mustbnuts posted a photo that I thought it might be ('candice') but it wasn't that rose. Thanks for any help. Linda
Can you tell us a little more about the rose? It sure is pretty! Can you show us the leaves? Does it continuously bloom? Where are you located? How long have you had this rose?
It reminds me of Coffee Country too. Without knowing more about the blooming habits and pictures of leaves (and how old the rose is), it is difficult to identify.
Thanks to all who offered suggestions on my Mystery Rose. I checked out "The Impostor", "Cinnamon Dolce", "Coffee Country" and "Spanish Rhapsody"...none of those googled seemed to match. Mustbnuts asked for a little more info. Here are a few more photos. I live in SoCal, zone 9b. I'm still thinking this rose is a hybrid tea...it is tall at about 5 to 5.5 feet and most of the roses have been medium to large, tall buds with single stems (although the pictures also show some bud sprays coming up now). Flowers look to have 20-30 petals and are about 3" across. Leaves are a glossy, medium green. I believe I bought and planted this within the last year or two. Oddly, now that I think of it, it just bloomed for the first time in early May. Not a prolific bloomer, so far, but does repeat. Thanks again for any ideas.
Hi, Linda. Thanks so much for letting us know what you learned. 'Shazam!' is indeed a wonderful rose with those beautiful stippled petals. Mine blooms in the same colors as yours during rose season and then tones down to a muted blend of peaches and cream in December and January.
It's one of the roses that was sabotaged by J&P's financial troubles and change of ownership. Zary created it just before the 2007 collapse of J&P. It won some prizes as JACjosse in 2008, but it wasn't introduced by J&P under the Shazam name until 2011. By that time, J&P had lost its good reputation and wasn't being taken seriously by most people. I think the rose would have been a big sensation if it hadn't been stuck in the pipeline. It's also one of the only J&P roses I have that grow just as well on their own roots as grafted.
I was going to suggest SHAZAM! Mine made it thru the fire and I'm so glad because it's a beautiful rose! Doesn't always have that stippled look, but it always has interesting blooms. I actually got mine as a test rose from J&P several yrs ago. I wish they still did them. But... I just saw today that they are offering a set of 4 unnamed roses that will be officially marketed next yr. So it's kinda like the test roses, only you don't send them your evaluations. They're already sold out tho.
