I just wanted to warn everyone before the seeds start getting listed from this seller on the lily auction. Avoid seller daylilyparadise at all cost, every single cross they sold me were fakes. I'm talking not even close to the parents listed. I was just going to let it go but I paid a lot of money for these seeds and I can only imagine how many other people they have scammed. I had to step up and say something before they cheated any of my garden.org friends. I would love to hear from others who have purchased seeds from this seller.

Also, all of the time, effort and garden space wasted on these seeds, on top of the money spent. Grumbling
Edit to add:
I did not buy seeds from this seller.

I too was a victim of Daylilyparadise bogus seeds. Definitely not happy with the purchases that I made from their seeds offerings. Luckily, they got me for about $60 worth of stuffs. It could have been worse.

I haven't but I'm a nobody on there. I doubt my word would mean much to a seller with a feedback score of over 6K Shrug!

The problem is people like me get the seeds then leave feedback without seeing them bloom. This gives sellers 2-3 years to build up their feedback as a *good seller* and scam people the whole time. It's so sad too because it leaves a bad taste in the mouth of buyers on the LA. The same thing happened to many people who bought plant material on ebay. Now gardeners take that place as a joke.

Daniel I have seeds in the fridge that I bought from said seller last year. Wow. Since I haven't bloomed any of the sellers seeds yet I can't say much. If I were in your position at the moment I would contact Mike Longo and give him a heads up about the situation before more people get scammed. I would also contact the seller and let them know that I want my money back. Good luck with that I suppose.

Daniel,

Sorry about your problem. I would hope that you contacted the buyer first, so they would have a chance to straighten things out. That will clear up the problem almost all of the time. Failing any resolution with that, I would contact Mike Longo. I have found him very willing to make things right, for both sides. Don't think that your issue doesn't matter.

Feedback for seed sellers is a tricky issue. A buyer's normal response when receiving a packet of seeds is to leave feedback. That tells the seller that the package was delivered, and is the normal way things work. It is much more complicated with seed sales. First, did you get a reasonable germination rate? Most people don't plant their seeds right away, so there can be a considerable amount of time after the initial purchase. Secondly, do the seeds look like they are the correct cross? Now we're talking two or three years passed initial purchase, and you are way too far down the road for any reasonable resolution or refund.

Seed selling has always been a tricky area, and in the wrong hands, can be an easy place for fraud. Don't even get me started talking about when they used to offer pollen, or custom made seeds??!!

The only thing that gives me pause is not the 100% feedback, but the amount of feedback. I would think that fraudulent behavior would have knocked this buyer out long ago, which makes me more inclined to think error instead. Did they use new help, was there a mixup, a labeling error?? I would bet this is more the case, but I am only guessing at this point.

Let them know your disappointment and their response will tell you a lot. Never feel you are too small to take a problem to Mike if need be.

Good luck!

Steve

Steve the germantion was not the issue the isuue is the parents listed was not the parents used. I know there is variability in seeds and even more so in tets but you don't get these kind of flowers from the parents listed. I got my seeds in 2017 and they bloomed this year. I ordered mostly Blue Jay Holiday, Red White and Blue , and other blue eyed crosses because that's my main interest. There was not a single blue eyed seedling from any of the seeds. Instead there was a lot of toothies, watermarks, and basic looking selfs. I would not have brought this up if it was only 2 or 3 packs or if they looked even slightly similar to the parents listed but we are talking about 20 crosses all wrongly labeled.
They list tons of great looking crosses and always use the hybridizer's photo. I guess that should have been my first clue to leave them alone. I think Karen was cheated in 2016 and I was cheated in 2017. I doubt it was just a new helper issue or a spilled tray of seeds if it was in 2 different years. I promise I'm not the type of person to jump the gun and make a thread on a seller just beacuae the seeds didn't live up to my expectations or expect intro worthy seedlings from my purchase. I just wanted to add the genitics I paid for to my program.
I will contact that Mike guy and give him a heads up. I don't care about a refund I just want them to stop selling fake seeds. I already contacted the seller but I doubt they will get back with me. How do I contact Mike?

Daniel,

There is a section on the bottom of the Lily Auction, called:

"Support/Questions/CONTACT_US"

I would start there.

I am not stating that you are overreacting, or that you aren't supposed to be upset. I have been around long enough to see just about everything happen on the auction and in every instance, it was dealt with and corrected. I hope the same for you.

I just sent them a mesaage explaining what was going on. Thumbs up

Mike I hope they didn't cheat you like they did me. Maybe now that they have made so much money selling fake crosses they can afford to buy the plants they say they have in their listings. Regardless I will never buy from them again. From now on the only LA sellers I'm buying seeds from are honest sellers with proven track records like Ahead, Fred Manning, Rich, JWWC, and a few others. When you buy seeds from them you can rest assure they will be what you paid for. Thumbs up

Good luck with your pursuit of this, Daniel! I read on Facebook last year that there were others receiving seeds from Daylilyparadise that produce seedlings looking unlike anything from the parents. Considering the advanced genetics that they offered on their seeds, the seedlings that grew and bloomed looked very plain like something hybridized in the 90's. This person on Facebook said that he contacted Floyd Cove to see if this seller actually bought any plants from Floyd Cove because that was what Daylilyparadise mostly offered as crosses. Floyd Cove responded to this person that they had no records of Daylilyparadise buying plants from them. This was a few years ago, maybe 2016. Not sure if Daylilyparadise has changed their ways to date. But in the meantime, best to stick with sellers whose seeds and crosses are represented honestly.

I'm pulling all my seedlings from them out Karen, it was that bad. I agree with the facebook posters all my blooms looked like they came from older plants but not even the same colors as the crosses listed. we are talking soild red flowers on seedlings with Mathew Weldon x Blue Jay Holiday listed as the parents and orangeish colored toothies for Blue Reality x Blue Jay Holiday. These are just 2 examples like I said I bought many blue eyed crosses but I got a lot of what look like Ragamuffin crosses and other things out of the 90's. Thumbs down

Still Sharon Veycheck in PA? I bought some seeds from her in 2017. When I transplanted them I lost all my tags. For what I paid I was expecting more impressive blossoms. I thought that was just genetic variation?

What you pay has nothing to do with how impressive the they are going to be. Think of the tens of thousands of seeds a hybridyzer plant to get one. People..including me, get five seeds in a bag and expect greatness. Thats called hope, and what keeps us going..logical or not. as for the seller in quetion, I know they are off my list, I have had issues.

Ive gotten more than one year in a row,...soft seeds. Ordered/picked to soon. Thats not all of their seeds, but Im a little leary. They have always been very nice. I do think you need to be very careful when buying seeds that are from new intros. Could a person even have had time to make those seeds....Im talking in general. Many times not. Still searching for 'the' one. Good luck to you.

Pollen can go a long way but I know what you mean. I think there are more than this seller out there getting peop!e. Like I said they get 2 years to cheat people and that's a minimum. Some buyers let it go, some may not notice, and many will simply not buy from them again so the feedback is left and the deed is done. This could honestly go on for several years but at least the garden.org community is aware of daylilyparadise and can avoid them.
For many buyers it is the hope of getting that 1 great seedlings but for me I turn to the Lily auction when I'm looking to add genes to the garden and don't have the funds to get the new or newer intros that caught my eye that year. I don't think I could register another person's cross even if it was a grand slam it just wouldn't feel like it was mine and how could I put my name as the hybridizer knowing I wasn't. That's just me and I don't judge those that do, you paid for them so you own them.
