It's a vigorous grower and good bloomer here. Flowers are above the foliage, but not high above the foliage. The edge is more evident at some times than at others.
Pleasing mid-shade of red. Mine is not in full sun all day.
This is my first year to grow it, and it's very short so far. I hope it will be much taller when it settles in. The flowers are attractive. It bloomed here when we were having a cool spell, so I don't know how sunfast it is.
This plant has not thrived for me so far. I put it in in Spring 2021 and that same year got 3 very short blooms. This year, it only had 2 blooms, both on the same day. I haven't seen that it has added any fans and it did catch a moderate case of rust this Fall. Not impressed so far
2023 update…much better year for MHBTD. Blooming from June 29- July 15, I counted at least 22 flowers, there were probably more while I was gone. She ended the season with 5 fans which was two more than she had in April. Finally! It's a beautiful flower and very striking when blooming multiples. Still very short though.
