Thread OP

Hello Gardeners,

I am looking for a thornless blackberry cultivar that ripens in August in Seattle. This is wanted to fill in the gap when our raspberrries take a break between their early and late fruitings.

Thanks for your help,

Randy

Hi Randy,

I live near Seattle (Eastside), & over the years purchased many types of berries from Raintree Nursery. They offer a nice selection of thornless varieties so you might want to check them out for information & availability.

The invasive Himalyan blackberries are abundant and ripen in August if you're just looking for fruit. I've never been drawn to a cultivated blackberry, but I like the seeds, especially in jam. My son is experimenting with 'training' a Himalyan in his backyard, not sure how successful that will be - he's kept it pruned back and gave it a support to climb up.
I want to live in a world where the chicken can cross the road without its motives being questioned.
