I've only had it two months come the beginning of November. Lately I've been noticing roots at the surface. The root ball when I first got it was small and compact, all collected right under the caudex. Is this a sign to repot already? I don't think it grew as fast in its previous home, eight leaves since I got it.
I would not repot at this time of year, but just fill the pot up a bit more. Then plan to repot it in the spring.
I'm wondering if it was grown/rooted in a rooting tube? Sometimes the roots grow upwards in those when they let it go too long.
Congratulations on a healthy plant, though! Not easy in your climate zone.

just leave it alone, and if it does start to go dormant, then allow it to do so and wait patiently for its wake up time in late Spring to early Summer. When it goes dormant, no watering.
