Rose (Rosa heleniae 'Hybrida')

I'm a bit confused here. Is this name really correct?

I'm definitely not a rose expert, but I have a very hard time finding info about Rosa heleniae 'Samling', 'Saemling' or 'Sämling'.

One of the few references I found is from this German vendor: https://www.weingart-rosen.de/...
"Rosa helenae Sämling von Petersen"
From that text it seems 'Sämling', simply is the German word for seedling?

So this would simply be a reference to that it was a seedling that was discovered by Valdemar Petersen.
I suppose 'Samling' and 'Saemling' are English variations to avoid the 'ä' for the database.

The database also says it also is sold as Rosa helenae 'Hybrida', which seems correct to me.

Here's some more information about this rose:

https://www.helpmefind.com/ros...

It's listed as Samling in our rose database because the names Sämling, Semiplena, and Hybrida are used by equal numbers of vendors and plant owners, with no clear preference for any of the three. In these cases, we usually assign preference to the exhibition name, but this rose does not have an exhibition name. It was added to the database as Sämling (or Samling, because we don't use foreign diacritical marks in our database) because that's how it was originally proposed for inclusion. The other names are included in the entry for search purposes.

R. helenae, incidentally, is not an accepted botanical name. It's a misspelling of heleniae.

Many thanks Zuzu. Smiling

'Hybrida' is a very common rose here in Sweden. I grow it myself, but was a bit surprised when I found the name 'Sämling' for it, as I have never seen that name here, nor can I recall having seeing that name used in our neighboring country Denmark, from which 'Hybrida' originates.

Searching for the misspelled Rosa helenae 'Sämling' however reveals quite a few more references than my initial search for (Rosa heleniae 'Sämling'), which basically didn't return any results at all, except our own database here. So far all results for 'Sämling' that I looked at appears to be German, so I guess it might be a local name, which just happens to be the same as the German word for seedling. Shrug!
Quite interesting anyway.

Thanks again!

You're right: The sources selling it as ''Sämling' are in Germany. It's sold as 'Hybrida' in Denmark and Sweden and as 'Semiplena' in France and Poland. Since there is no exhibition name and no clear preference for any of the three names, I'm happy to give 'Hybrida' pride of place in the entry listing. After all, if it's a Danish rose, it seems right to call it what the Danes call it. Smiling It has been renamed:

Rose (Rosa heleniae 'Hybrida')
