Hey Guys! I thought I would make a thread to show off all of the amazing Carnivorous plants people have!! I do not have many, but a few that I LOVE!

My Drosera capensis 'Wide Leaf'

My Pinguicula laueana in its closed terrarium

My two Nepenthes ( x ventrata ) x alata
The big one isn't pitchering right now, but that's because it is new, and wasn't in the correct conditions. Hopefully the new leaves it is putting out will start putting out pitchers... Crossing Fingers!

I also have some Sarracenia, but they are all dormant at the moment...
What carnivorous plants do you guys have? I am curious about other people's setups too...

They're all sleeping. I guess the Nepenthes isn't. I'll take photos tomorrow. Smiling

I figured people would have some sleepy ones this time of year, but I also thought more people would have indoor tropicals...

My Pinguiculas stays outdoors year round. But always in a shady spot. They like the cool foggy mornings right now. I never enclose them, it seems more prone to fungal issues if I do that. So more air around them year round. During summer when there is just no rain, then I use distilled water to water them as needed. I used to hide them indoors when it is winter, then I realized they are not bothered by the mild cool temps and since winter is the only time they will get rains here, they enjoy it a lot. I think they are happier outdoors too, since they get their feast of little insects when temps starts to go warmer.

All my Nepenthes are indoors year round, by the west facing window near the kitchen sink, and all in standing distilled water. Some are in pitcher making mode right now. I never enclose them in terrariums either, but always in standing water. It is too dry here inland, especially once the long dry season starts. It has grown such bigger leaves, which showed me how much light it really likes. One of them even managed to grow roots into the water, so it is like having its own wick, so it drinks quite a lot.

I no longer have my Sarracenias, cannot maintain the humidity it likes.

Tarev, Have you ever tried to propagate your pings by leaf cuttings? I have heard you can propagate them as easily as succulents, but have never tried myself...

My 6 Venus Fly Traps are all dormant now in the garage, but I am hoping to expand to others this year. Smiling

Do yours bloom for you? Most people cut off the blooms so the plant puts more energy into making traps, but I LOVE the look of the flowers...

The problem with Fly Traps is they are very demanding in their care. Flowers take a lot of energy so, if your plants are borderline, cutting off the flowers is life saving. I don't grow Fly Traps for just that reason.

I do grow a lot of Sarracenia. Tarev, I've not noticed they need humidity to thrive. I live in the desert where the humidity is often 10% or less. This is one of three bogs in my yard, now and last June - blooming but before most of the new pitchers:

One of three Nepenthes. This is the top of the plant. It winds through orchids to the floor, about 7 ft down.

Daisy, Yes, that is why I did not continue anymore with the Sarracenias. My area does not have the humidity it needs. I did have them happy initially while in late Fall to Spring, but once summer came around...scorched dead. Good that you have a bog area there. That surely keeps your Sarracenias happy. Smiling And you have a greenhouse too, so your other carnivores are happily growing there.

I am quite content now with just the PInguiculas and Nepenthes.especially when there are flying insects around, Pings will love them, and I occasionally feed live spiders to my Nepenthes.

Tarev, have you tried Drosera? I have found that they don't need much care, kinda like the Pings. Mine just sits contentedly in its little mug full of water, and it seems to catch bugs better than my Pings too...

I did try Drosera before, but it easily got dry roasted even in shade...maybe I made the mistake of leaving it outdoors. Should have just kept it indoors like the Nepenthes.

Pinguiculas are good in catching too, it is just that it has a period where it is just like a succulent, and then a season where it has sticky leaves.

That reniformis looks awesome!! I also love the labels on the pots!! Do they hold up when wet? Or do you have to be careful to not get water on them?

VFT's do require winter dormancy, so maybe your plant is just going dormant.

I have, since, moved her into a small glass tray that holds some water. every other day I mist the leaves with water, I want to do the Orchid solution mix but haven't gone out for that so... water for now. but for sure leaves haven't stopped.
