As a comment about Red Chokeberry (Aronia x prunifolia 'Brilliant'), ILPARW wrote:

This 'Brilliant' Red Chokeberry is the same as the official cultivar of Aronia arbutifolia 'Brilliantissima.' Check the official scientific cultivar name of 'Brilliantissima'.

I just noticed this today, we have Brilliant and Brilliantissima on different entries. They are the same. Do you have a link to this info? Then I can send a Merge Request to Admin.

I will double check; however, I am sure they are the same as the woody plant textbooks that I have ("Native Trees, Shrubs, and Vines for Urban & Rural America" by Gary Highshoe and "Manual of Woody Landscape Plants" by Dr Michael Dirr only write of 'Brilliantisima' and don't show any, besides my experience in working in nurseries for years.

I just looked online about these two cultivar names. There is some confusion with sites getting the Red and Purple Chokeberry shrubs mixed up. However, there seems to be a cultivar of the Purple Chokeberry (Aronia x prunifolia), which is a hybrid between the Red x Black Chokeberries, that has a cultivar called 'Brilliant'. It is sometimes listed as a Red Chokeberry, but the fruits finally become red-purple or dark purple, which means that it should be the Purple Chokeberry.
