99% of the flowers are almost black in color, but a few flowers on those plants bloom in odd colors unlike the rest. I must say it's a very pretty oddity! 😍
I thought it was a mixed batch but these random colors are growing on the plants with black flowers, so it can't be mixed it's some random sport or mutation. If you look at my photos the weird colors are surrounded by black flowers, these are all the same plants but only some get the weird colors. I bought some and ocassionaly and all black flower plant gets a green or pink flower on it
Please help me... these are three different plants (Two of the first, second, and third)?
Occasionally, at the greenhouse, we'd get a random mutation, but for the most part, while they are highly variable, they're "fairly" stable.
Thanks!
It is interesting you bring this up, I've been wondering the same thing since I have a large pot of sky blue Surfinia petunias which, when I first bought them, were a pale - almost lavender hue - but now they seem to vary between that a deeper, richer purple hue.

Those are so gorgeous! I've been trying to get my hands on some Night Sky petunias without having to start them from seed as I am seeded out this year. I also want some Black Velvet ones. Just gorgeous!
