Hi, I am making some crosses with Gossard's. I have found that some are outstanding and others seem to be less than average. What are your best ones that you grow? For me these are my favorites.
Aliens in the Garden
Polar Bear Express
After the Bite
Blackberry Lime Kiss

I love the bloom on Well Hello Beautiful but it is a really slow grower for me.

Here is a photo from 2018 when it had been in the ground for one year. Was doing quite good. It is much larger this year, but no blooms just yet.

I have eleven Gossard plants, most I have not had long enough to know how good they will be. But I do have two, that have been very good so far for me.

I love Gossards! The uniformly grow well here in my zone 6B garden. I only grow dips though, so not sure if that is what you are looking for. My fav's so far are "Creative Design" and "Wild Chicken", but many more, Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer, Clownfish, Reindeer Games, Out of Balance, Digital Dynamics, Blue Eyes White Dragon, Blue Throated Hummingbird, Strawberry Lemonade etc, are all thriving here. They are uniformly great plants with lovely flowers. There are more Gossards than anything else in my garden. I plant them and they flourish. My kind of daylilies.

I have only three to show:
Thumb of 2020-07-14/Avedon/e4c51a
Get'R Done--a very large flower--this is a favorite Gossard
Thumb of 2020-07-14/Avedon/c3523f
Exotic Starfish--new last year--only one fan, but now two fans this year--really striking flower.

Blue Viper--new last year, six fans this year all producing scapes.

So glad to see nice comments on Exotic Starfish, and Get R Done. I just added those this Spring.

Debra, great pics! Black Panther looks stunning. I only have one that I am disappointed in. Giant Huntsman it is still only 3 puny fans after buying it as a intro in 2017. I got 4 the same day and the others have done super.

I've had several Gossards that disappointed or died. Stardust Dragon died twice. Rainbow Dragon had a weird petal color and was always shorter than registered, although it multiplied like crazy. I sold all of that one last fall. Purple Ostrich is still a single fan after two years and has never bloomed. I loved the beautiful Moonlight Dragon, but it died before it saw a second year. I also lost Creative Design and Garden Butterfly. I see these cultivars growing beautifully in other people's gardens, so I know they do well for some. I think every hybridizer has some great plants and some that are not as great.

I have a few Gossard's. Some have done well and some not so much. I find they take three years to hit their stride. A couple of his dips I find are leaners and I can't be bothered with staking.
The best grower I have is Smoke Scream. It is my tallest one at 42 inches and a fabulous bud count for my area. I am not crazy about the coloring though { a personal thing}. My second favorite is Sword Dancer but I also find Upgrade and Purple Badger are good growers.

The scapes do lean, but I stake them. Get'R Done is a tet, so the scapes are stronger than the diploids.

Heavenly Angel Ice is the only Gossard that I have had for any length of time. All others I just bought in the last couple yrs. HAI wasn't doing very well but I moved it 3 yrs ago and it is now much happier & flourishing.
