Hi Guys! It's so nice to be able to ask questions here, thanks in advance!

I received this hoya cutting in the mail (part of a trade) from a gal in Tennessee. I believe the plant lived outside.

Can you tell me what these woody tan looking spots are on the backs of the leaves? The blackish ones look a little like edema to me but what do you think the black ones are?

Thank you!

You shouldn't look at the backs of Hoya leaves as they often have spots and look horrible. It just means the person who sent it chose an old branch.

You can request @Calif_Sue move this thread to the Hoya forum. It may get more views and conversation there. And then you can also keep us informed on how the rooting goes. I don't think I have ever seen that particular Hoya.

Ok thank you! @Daisyl!! Glad to hear you don't think it's an issue- esp not a transmittable one 😅

It would be nice to know what causes this! @Calif_Sue would you want to move this convo?

There is nothing wrong with that cutting. Plants that grown outdoors gets all the natural elements that Mother Nature throws so the plants leaves gets different texture but, absolutely healthy.

Only, those plants that exclusively grown indoors/ grow tents you most likely see perfect leaves.
