Hi, this is Maureen. Formerly from Long island (Hi Arlene :-), Moved to NC 6 years ago and love gardening. I just moved into my first house that has a garden (i was in apartments for 6 years) and i'm so thrilled to be able to garden. Some dahlias are on my list, so what suppliers have reasonable prices/shipping? Who are your favorite suppliers?

And if you could only have 3 dahlias in your garden, which three would you pick?

Thanks,
Maureen

I join Arlene - Belle of Barmera was a beauty this year and prolific with blooms! Welcome! I also like encore it's starts off bright yellow and mellows down to more a mid yellow and its got crazy petals.

Welcome to the dahlia forum, Maureen!

My must haves are: Maarn, Nenekazi, Peaches N Cream, NTAC Mia Li, and Verrone's DF. Yeah, that's 5, not 3, but that's as far as I could narrow it down.

I like Swan Island but you can find them elsewhere for a lower price. It's up to you.

I like Swan Island, Connell's, and Old House Dahlias. Mountain Diva is a quiet favorite of mine that opens in late Winter/ early Spring.

Hi, Maureen! Welcome to the dahlia forum!

Off the top of my head, I'd probably go with Bonaventure, Mingus Wesley, Homer T and Bella S. And I'd also throw in AC Paint for it's wackiness and different blooms.

As far as suppliers, I like Tall Grass, Connell's, Clack's and Delightful Dahlias. Buying packaged clumps is sometimes like rolling the dice as far as getting mislabels. But I've had good luck with American Meadows.
