This fellow gets buds like this, then they drop off. Has done this repeatedly since I brought it home, one of my friend's plants. She said it'd never bloomed for her. I've let it be dry, and I've kept it well wet and fed. ???

I think you have great patience. It is probably a poor quality seedling and should probably be disposed of. Darwin's principle applies.

Orchid bloom booster did it for me once in similar circumstances. Now, it is my theory that plants are not as dense as we think. If you're right-handed, hold a machette into your right hand while doing this. With your left hand, grab one of its branches and shake it well to attract the plant's attention. Speaking in a loud and clear voice, tell it straight out: Listen, plant... the way things are, you're just a waste of space. I've taken care of you, I've watered you, fed you, and worried about you. Now you get me some blooms going pronto, or I will destroy you with this machette and heap your carcass onto the compost pile. I'm so glad we've had this time together.

Bahahahaha that was funny, try "UREA", promotes leaf and flower growth

I thought urea was for leafy parts, we don't want that for Adeniums. They turn into vines!

OK, here we go! Sylvain's thoughts were things that sped this way, found the plant, and ZAP! One bud did grow, and it bloomed this morning. Wheeee! If all the buds open, this plant will sparkle! The bloom is tiny, the size of my thumb, with a very nice shape, and is a little redder than my what the camera sees.

I'm glad your plant bloomed.

That approach may may seen strange, but I picked it off a PBS gardening show where the curator of some kind of Royal Botanical Garden in England said they had rhododendrons that wouldn't bloom. Oh, the infamy: plants at the RBC that won't bloom. So, he described the method I explained above and within a few months, blooms showed up. I have tried the process many times. Most times, things went well. Others, not so much. But I did follow through with my threat to destroy the uncooperative plant every time.
