Picture please. I have made some and wonder if there is more than one way.

Also, how do you hold your newspaper pots together?

MaryE I do not have a camera, but the way the girl made the pot from the toilet paper roll was so easy. She cut 4 slits in the bottom of the roll and folded them in, one at a time. They are strong and stay put better than the newspaper ones. The trick is to cut the 4 slits the same length so they make a perfect fit. I went a step further and made some little slits at the top and folded them outward. It looks like a scalloped edge.

The newspaper pots are not very strong so I had to crease them very hard in order to get them to stay put. After filling them with soil to 2/3's full and putting the tiny plants in the top I placed them in the bottom of a bucket of water, (2 inches) and then put them in the ground.

Here is the link I used. It's safe.

I've used empty toilet paper rolls too for daylily seedlings. I would tape groups of 4 together all facing upright. Then I filled dirt in them. I made sure the empty rolls were in a shallow plastic tote as a water catcher (mainly to keep the dirt in place.) After about a month the cardboard started to mold at the bottom of the roll and soon fell apart.

The empty rolls have better use in the compost or for recycling rather than used as pots.
Not only people give others signs, but plants do too.

I have stood them up in a large flat, no folding, shoulder to shoulder and started corn in them. After 10 days most of them are up and the roots are already out the bottom. I plant them tube and all. A standard nursery flat will hold about 60 and watering is easy. I can get a couple of weeks head start on our short growing season. For smaller seeds I fold to make a bottom and always plant tube and all.
