I have stood them up in a large flat, no folding, shoulder to shoulder and started corn in them. After 10 days most of them are up and the roots are already out the bottom. I plant them tube and all. A standard nursery flat will hold about 60 and watering is easy. I can get a couple of weeks head start on our short growing season. For smaller seeds I fold to make a bottom and always plant tube and all.
Of all the things I've lost, I miss my mind the most.
