I have been thinking about this. For seed swaps, I process my seeds ahead of time, always worried something will come up in my life to prevent me from packaging them up to mail. This will be different. Cuttings will need to be made right before mailing. so I am thinking about making a list of what I could do, but wait to do it until time to mail.
As they are bigger and will quickly fill up a small USPS mailer box, I think we should limit our group size (hardly anyone has signed up so this may not be a problem). Also, for seed swaps, at the end I have so many tickets I click on things I am not really planning to use (confession) but might eventually want, or to give away. As the cuttings will need to be dealt with as soon as we get them maybe we need some kind of agreement to only click on those we really want?
I think I might dip the tough ones in some rooting hormone before sending, I usually dip mine right away. What do you think? Oh that reminds me I should go buy some new powder.
I have houseplants and of course garden plants. April/May we can do some softwood and some hardwood cuttings here in Seattle (spring is here now), and houseplants. I would guess most of you are still in the hardwood phase, which should mail better.

Also I have a few plants I could clip off a tiny "Irishman's cutting" which would not take up much room.

I order rooted cuttings of fuchsias from Earthworks and geranium rooted cuttings from Geraniaceae. They send these small plants (rooted cuttings) to me and they do quite well. I wonder if we would want to send things like this? We could take the small plants out of their cups they were growing in and wrap them in wet newspaper or moss. Then put a small plastic baggie over the small wrapped root ball. a rubber band could secure it. If we allowed these, then I would be able to send coleus which wouldn't travel well as just a fresh cutting. Begonia cuttings and other house plants would probably travel well as plain cuttings. I'm in Iowa and we were hit well by last August''s derecho so I lost all my fuchsia and most of my geraniums or I could have sent them. Share with me your ideas on what we can send and how. Thanks!

I like the rooted cuttings idea, for houseplants. If I knew what people wanted I could start them now. There are only a few of us so we can do whatever we want. I will try to put a list in here in a day or two, so you can see what I have.

Anyone still interested? I have been overwhelmed with work and family stuff this spring. But if anyone wants to I would try to get my act together!

I'm thinking there may not be enough interest this year. I'm okay with waiting and trying again next year.
