My weather has been distinctly odd this past few weeks... enough so that 'Thunderstick' decided to rebloom (and 'Moment to Savour' tried to, with a bud stuck right down in the neck of the fan) and both my jonquils and a couple of my terrestrial orchids, which aren't supposed to appear for months yet, have decided to emerge way too early!

I've never had this happen before.

Something odd with the plants here too. It is supposed to be winter but my daffodils started coming up in January, the flowering quince bloomed in December, and my Daphne is about to go bloom crazy. All way ahead of schedule. Meanwhile my hellebores are behind schedule.

Joshua: Hurray! Hurray! Hurray! Congrats on being the 1st to post a 2021 bloom here. I really thought it would be Daphne based on her year round rebloomers but yes, it makes sense that New Zealand could be having rebloomers right now. Thank you for sharing

Thanks Elsa. Yes, Australia and New Zealand could be experiencing rebloom at the moment, although 'Thunderstick' is not a rebloomer!

Hurray! Our weather is a bit like spring at the moment with the cooler temperatures and extra rain. I am not surprised that some irises are confused but I am surprised that it is your Thunderstick that decided to rebloom.

I think I have a ways to go still. Here are some pics:
Erlicheer Daff buds got hit as well as some other Daffs. I think they can handle it but we will see:

Hyacinths got hit. In the past, snow didn't phase them but this guy looks frozen solid.

I left the Seed bins uncovered since I hear they like cold and none had yet sprouted.

Iris beds...I had had some new tender growth but most had not started really growing yet.

thank you, elsa for the acorn.

yes, it's exciting, but i think it's going to be a strange season. not many of the iris are sending out very many leaves, and some of my best performers are looking rather sad. they look as tho' they're having fungal issues. i've got to spread more sulfur when i get some. in the meantime, i've got to do some 'comet' dusting.

Daphne: Oh that is sad. I sure hope you get fungal issue ID'ed and under control quickly!! I have received bad rhizomes from vendors twice before and it spread to others in the general area very quick. I was able to save most of the ones around through TLC but lost a few. Anyway, I feel your pain!

More unexpected rebloom (although in this case 'Moment to Savour' didn't actually bloom in Spring, so what I think has happened is that this rhizome is now big enough and the weird weather of the past month has made it think it's Springtime):

Thanks all. It's one of my favourites, although isn't as vigourous for me as some of the others I have. It's bloomed in the past but clearly after I moved it, it decided to skip flowering last Spring. Wasn't expecting it to appear now!
