So, I am starting to plant all (well, as many as I can) the wonderful seeds I received from this swap. So far I have Amaranthus Aurelia Verde, Salvia viridian Tricolor, Aster Matsumoto Blue and Aster Matsumoto Red Stripe coming up. I imagine there's not a ton of you ready to post yet, since I live in zone 9b, but would love to see your postings on what's coming up from this swap. When we're further along in the season, I will try to post pictures, too.

I've got some things growing, several from the swap. Right off I can think of MrsB's Salvia transylvanica, Ladyreneer's Korean Zest Agastache, KYWheeler's Baby Blue Eucalyptus, a couple of tomatoes. I potted on some Lantana and sowed some peppers from the swap yesterday. The box of seeds I chose from all sources to grow this year has barely been touched. Green Grin!

Newly up in the past couple of days: Nautical Mix Petunia, Bloody Mary Nasturtium, Amethyst Basil (and these tiny seedlings already have the nice deep purple color). I seeded a few more yesterday - have to start them early here! Antsinmypants and ishareflowers, by the time you're able to be certain of seeding, it will be too hot here to start anything. Spring and fall are good seasons in 9b, but summer is frying season here.

Ooo! I need to start some nasturtiums. nodding

I've started a bunch of seeds already. Many sown indoors are sprouting. Although it'll be awhile before they make it outdoors. Smiling Should have done more winter sowing!!

Petunia exerta and Celosia 'New Look' sprouted in a matter of a few days! Many tomatoes and peppers are sprouted. Also sprouted about four kinds of eggplant... can't think of what else right now. Waiting for salvias to sprout.

I put some prickly poppy (Argemone) seeds, which I thought might require pre-treatment, in damp paper towels where they sprouted right away. Mid-February is when I usually begin starting seeds anyway, so I'd better break out the planting packs!

I'd like to recommend the Abyssinian primrose (Primula verticillata) which I started from seed last year. It is blooming away now, despite the fact that I have several plants packed into a single clay pot where they wilt frequently. As advertised, it does tolerate dry conditions well and has a lovely silvery farina on the upper leaves and buds.

I just discovered that some of the lace-leaf Japanese maple seeds I'd placed in the refrigerator after an earlier swap also are beginning to sprout. That took them only about 55 days.

@AudreyDee The Corynabutilon vitifolium from you in the 3rd nftsrss is blooming in the greenhouse...it's white and really beautiful!! There are many buds.

Lots of things from this swap #6 are beginning to germinate; those I can think of off the top of my head are: Brown Cotton, Liatris punctata, Arnica, D. cooperi, Variegated Cotton, Purple Majesty Grass (mice chewed Angry ), lots of Celosia, Playful Meadow Mama Echinacea and others....it's very exciting! Thank you all so much. I'll post pics as things progress.

Janinilulu,
That is a beautiful bloom! I love the contrast between the orange and white--and those silvery leaves too. I see by my records that I did succeed in germinating that flowering maple, and I vaguely recall its felt-y foliage. But what happened to mine is anybody's guess!

I was able to get more seeds sown yesterday, including some artichokes, since I heard that it's actually possible to get them to produce the first year with the proper vernalization. Not that I eat artichokes all that much, but I do like how the plants look.

More sprouting now: Agastache Blue Delight, and Wheat Pima Club. So excited about all this; I am finally having some decent luck after 4 and a half years now of living in Florida. I've been amending the soil as best I can on limited budget - I have 3 compost bins working, but they're not ready yet. I've been working toward edible landscaping, so a lot of the seeds I got in this swap will work very nicely toward that, whether vegetables, fruits, or culinary or medicinal herbs. Definitely doing the happy dance here! Hurray! Thank You!
