I live on an island in coastal Maine and have been looking for palm trees that can grow in USDA zone 7a. My aunt who lives in Long Beach, New York is in zone 7b and said that there are no palm trees north of Florida except on the west coast but Damien from Myrtle Beach, South Carolina said he has hundreds and I talked with 7 different people from different neighborhoods on Cedar Point Island, Ohio who all said there are loads of Windmill, Needle, Dwarf Palmetto, Pindo, Sago, and half dead Majesty Palms. Michelle from Chaussee, the biggest city on Cedar Point Island, Ohio said there are even parlor palms in 7b under glass jars for winter protection. Keola who also lived in Chaussee at the time told me to check out her YouTube channel,
Cedar Point Palms Keola which had tons of videos of unprotected and protected palms in zones 7a - 8b. Rico from Illinois said I "ought to try Sabal Glacies" which is native to West Virginia and Ohio.
