Hi. I have a red shrub rose I need to identify. It has thorns. Here is a photo of one of the blooms.

Lovely! Unfortunately it is really hard to identify most roses. The more information and photos you can provide, the more likely someone will recognize it.

Thank you. The rose has saw tooth edges on the leaves. The leaves are usually dark green. The stamen are yellow. The blooms have a very nice fragrance. The blooms are single. It is a shrub rose type.

Pretty much near impossible to ID a rose in bud form, or even any rose. There are multitudes of red roses introduced over several decades and unless there is something distinct or unusual about it, one couldn't get an exact ID from photos.

i have identified it. It is a hybrid tea rose called "Firefighter'. It has saw toothed leaves, is a shrub, and is quite fragrant, with red blooms that have folds or ruffles on the petals, and yellow stamen. It also has thorns and is around 4 to 5 feet tall. This descriptions, pictures of blossoms, and its fragrance fits this flower with mine perfectly. sorry I could not provide a better picture of the blooms, but the other blooms were too high up for me to reach. Ours is in a large pot. Planted some vinca rosa (periwinkles) and lavender magic tulips with it. Do not know if it was a good idea to do that. But sadly I was not in charge of their haphazard placement. Anyway. The rose is a real trooper. It seems to be surviving so far...

Beautiful red rose but nothing distinctive, as I mentioned, to make a positive ID. The color, leaves, fragrance and yellow stamens can be a match to many red roses.

Thank you Sue🙂 I am going to call it a Firefighter rose for now. On account of it matches so closely. But thank you for telling me. We received it for free. It was almost dead when we got it years ago. It was nursed back to health by a family member. It has been with us ever since. It is one tough rose all things considered. 🙂

And that's the best kind of rose, nurtured back to health and now rewarding you with beautiful blooms!

Your second pic looks a lot like Firefighter. Is is extremely fragrant? Firefighter is.
