I grow this in MI. One of the darkest I have. Over last 5 years bud counts / scape as high as 27 and up to 4 way branching observed. Typically a bit taller than registered ~30" max scape height. Pod/pollen fertile. Now classified as a historic > 30 yrs old. It is being encroached on by adjacent DLs and a large hosta and is ready for division [after pods ripen ] in September. I do not fertilize this plant.
I planted Sir Modred last August and it's been blooming this season. The plant is still relatively short, not even a year old but seems to be doing well.
Name: Lauri N Central Wash. - the dry side (Zone 5b)
This is a really pretty daylily. It was doing really well for me until the gophers had their way with it. It's still alive, but coming back from pretty serious damage. I hope it makes it, because it's been one of my favorites.
2022… Sir Modred hasn't really thrived in my yard. Maybe it has too much competition from other Daylilies. Both last year and this year, it only produced 8 blooms. I like the color well enough, I find the flower shape a little boring. It's also short, which isn't a big deal as it's in the front of the border. But it's going to have to step up production if it wants to stay there.
