I missed most of my geraniums, just didn't feel up to gardening when it was time.

I have half of a full sized bed full of paper plates with seeds drying as I type this.

I grew some great snapdragons this year and unfortunately my bunny population has exploded and they seem to really like them. I did get some of my mouth to grow up Bloom and seed before they ravished that. I grew out some of the seeds that I collected from my rudbeckia Sahara, they came out looking more like Rebecca cappuccino then Sahara but they're still pretty and they're very fluffy but the color is not what's Sahara's should be.

Sounds like you're well ahead of me Lisa!

'Pretty certain I missed all of my geraniums. I have to really be on the ball to catch them before they catapult away.

I've cleaned a dozen or two varieties and sent them to the basement, but I'm collecting far more quickly than I'm cleaning. Typical Sticking tongue out

Speaking of collecting, I lucked out today and noticed some Salvia verticillata seeds were ready and caught a few. This is the plant I grew from luvsgrtdanes's seeds. I've had the cultivar 'Purple Rain' since 2014 and have NEVER caught seeds from it. (It's undoubtedly a case of user error.) It got me to thinking ... although I grow a fair number of named veggie varieties, the majority of my flowers are species or are cultivars whose original IDs are lost in the mists of time. @ishareflowers - Lisa, when you wrote: "This swap will require a minimum of 100 different types of NAMED varieties for swapping," were you wanting us to refrain from listing a species if it isn't a cultivar? Or maybe the expectation is for participants to list at least 100 different "identified" varieties (meaning NOT things like "small, round, black seeds from a dried seed head I saw in a parking lot" Hilarious! )?

Very much looking forward to the fun! Thank you for hosting I tip my hat to you.

So far only a couple of zinnias a few morning glories and some pretty pink salvia.

I've collected and packaged a lot. I'm about to make my list "public" to the swap. There will be more, but more than likely additional packs of what's already there. Looking forward to this, thanks, Lisa!

Lisa, could you visit Mrs.B's question?

I know I asked this question in one of your previous swaps, but I can't remember your answer. Sorry. I thought I would be less scattered this year, but I guess that's a no.

Thank You!

Collected a lot of ironwood seeds and en masse planted them the other day. Boy, do the seedlings grow fast! But the tree itself takes years to reach maturity. Seems that after the seedlings are finished with their growth spurt, they grow v e r y s l o w l y ..... Hilarious!

Not much seed harvesting for me, but i sure know how to order seeds!

We are moving from our very rural community to Waco, TX, a small city 90 miles east of us in a month or two. I'll close on the new house in two weeks, and there are just a few things that have to be done before we move.

I have posted the minimum seeds to participate and will add more if life permits. I need to rehome a lot of very good seeds that don't meet the parameters of this swap, so I'll try to list in DnD's swap too if I can.

New garden, new adventures, Patricia. Smiling

I've harvested lots and lots of seeds that are residing in paper bags in long, intimidating boxes. I'm slowly starting to clean and pack some. I haven't ordered much new yet, really need to work on that.

**There's a new swap for North American native species and their cultivars. I didn't realize how many I had until I started checking them out here:
http://www.plantsoftheworldonl...
(you search with latin name and it tells you where they're from). AND there are 23 countries and territories in North America, (https://www.worldatlas.com/web...) so we all probably have lots of NA natives (including zinnias, marigolds, cosmos, etc). Anyway, you only need 3 to join and it's another way to share extras and also grab some goodies!

Sounds good Gardener2493. Are you thinking you might like to join a seed swap?

Under the "Tools" drop-down menu, you'll find "Seed Swaps." Also here: https://garden.org/apps/swap/

Review the active swaps (and their guidelines/rules/requirements) to see if one (or more) fits your situation. Watch the tutorial that Dave put together. The link is in the greenish box on the main swap page, though it's easy not to notice: https://www.youtube.com/watch?...

And, most importantly, have fun Smiling

I was happy to find a few viable-looking bee-made peony seeds this year.

Here's a question for our players. Instead of letting the seeds move into deep dormancy (which can tack an extra year onto germination/emergence), I'm thinking of starting the warm, moist portion of their stratification cycle now. They should be ready or nearly ready for the cold, moist phase by the time we start trading. If anyone claims the seeds, I'd want to ship the seeds directly to the winner(s) instead of sending them to the hostess for redistribution. (Depending of whether we know each other, I'd wait to send them until Lisa confirms arrival of the seeds you offered that other players claimed.)

Pros: Reasonably good possibility that the seeds will send up a plumule in the coming spring. (Of the three Ex. 'Bowl of Beauty' seeds I had last year, one seedling/plumule emerged this spring [late May] and then sent up two more leaves Smiling I think I should have given the seeds a bit more time in the warm, moist stratification phase, though.)

Cons: The seeds can't be stored anymore. They'd need to go straight to the fridge (or whatever cold, moist stratification method you want to use). They could be damaged in transit to you. Probably can't send them outside of the U.S. Oh, yes, and you'd need to feel comfortable with sharing your address with me.

Hmmm. Funny how I came up with more "cons" than "pros." Glare I could offer a packet of dry/dormant seeds and a packet of seeds that have started the first stratification cycle. (Note that there aren't very many Ex. 'Bowl of Beauty' seeds, though.) Or, I could stop complicating life and just offer dormant seeds.

Thoughts? Thanks!

Sorry but no thoughts on the Peony seeds. I haven't got room for any more peonies.

I collected some iris seeds but I'm not sure if they are any good. I expected the seeds to be black but they are brown. The seed pods were very dry and cracked open so I assumed the seeds were ready. Should I offer them? They are Iris spuria.

I'm still waiting to see if the squirrels will let me harvest any lily seeds.

Hi all,

Been collecting as much as I can. Once again had a move in the middle of the season, but luckily I have access to my old yard still. Trying to get there often enough to collect some of the seeds before they all fall off into the ground or get taken away by critters. I bagged a couple of my sunflower heads earlier this summer. Apparently that was the signal flag for the squirrels to chomp off the head below the bags and take the whole dang thing away!

@MrsBinWY, I'd love to try the peony seeds. They sound a little more complicated than what I normally plant but I am always wanting to try new plants from seed instead of starts. Call me a glutton for punishment. lol

Not an expert opinion, but they might be fine. The ones I sowed a couple weeks ago were still white. I didn't let them dry all the way down because I'm hoping they'll germinate this fall. Of course, that means they might be cat food this winter if I don't find a means of protecting them Crying

In what color do yours bloom?
